James 5:20 says, “Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” The purpose of our Bus Ministry is to fulfill God’s command to “…Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” (Luke 14:23) We want to reach and minister to children, but our goal is to reach the entire family, while providing safe transportation to and from our church.
Bus transportation is available for our Sunday morning services where Sunday School classes are available for all ages, from pre-K to senior citizens. Beside Sunday mornings, our bus ministry also offers numerous activities such as trips to the zoo and local parks, our annual Vacation Bible School, teen activities, and opportunities to be involved in children’s programs, such as Christmas pageants.
The youth group at Heritage Baptist Church is a good combination of teens from members of the church and teens from the bus route. We have been able to see many of them get saved during the evangelistic rallies that we have held. Our youth group balances recreational activities and Christian service. About half of our activities are ministry-focused to encourage serving Jesus Christ. Once a month we hold a service at the local nursing home, and once a month we have an activity. There is a good sense of unity among the young people and they have a teachable spirit. They are truly a blessing to the church.
